If invited through the lottery, one can go ahead and submit the application. The basic criteria to be eligible is to be at least 18 years old, a Permanent Resident or a Canadian citizen residing in Canada and meet the Minimum Necessary Income threshold. If your spouse or common-law partner is in Canada and is living with you,
you can sponsor them and meanwhile they will have an opportunity to live in
Canada while their permanent residence application is in process. However,
it is always recommended for the spouse to maintain a valid status in
Canada. In-Canada spousal sponsorship also lets you apply for an open work
permit along with your Permanent Residence application.
When applying under this class, you and your spouse or common-law
partner must be living together and provide supporting documents to prove
the same. Also, it is best for the spouse to not leave the country or travel
abroad when their application is being processed. In addition, you cannot
appeal if your application is rejected under this class.

Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada if they become permanent residents of Canada. You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you’re at least 18 years old and a Canadian citizen, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or a permanent resident of Canada. You can sponsor your spouse, dependent child, parents, grandparents, adopted child and a relative (under special circumstances). If you are looking to sponsor your spouse and/or dependent child under Family Class, you need to compile many documents to prove that you are eligible to sponsor, that your spouse is eligible to be sponsored and that you both share a genuine relationship. Remember that marriage fraud for obtaining status in Canada is illegal. The preparation of a Family Class application is very intensive. It’s even more complicated if you or your spouse has had previous marriages or visa rejections.
