Citizenship
You may apply for Canadian citizenship if you are a permanent resident,
have lived in Canada for 3 out of last 5 years, have filed your taxes, pass
your citizenship test and prove your language skills. You should also not be
under a removal order or a review for fraud or have unfulfilled conditions
related to your PR status. Remember you don’t automatically become a
citizen when you marry a Canadian. You may still need to meet all the
requirements as mentioned above. This process of becoming a Citizen
through Permanent Resident status is called Naturalization.
However, if your parent or grandparent is a Canadian, you may directly be
eligible for a Canadian citizenship certificate.
