If you want to come to Canada temporarily i.e less than 6 months , you
must apply for a visitor visa ( except If you are from a visa-exempted
country) . You can find if you belong to a visa required country by visiting Visa-required travellers .
You can come to Canada temporarily to unite with a family member, for a
business visit, assume a diplomatic post, attend a funeral or support a
severely ill person amongst many others. If you have relatives in Canada, it
is advisable to obtain a letter of invitation from them.
Visitor visa applications are one of the most difficult to prepare as you must
have a strong purpose of visit, have good financial standing and show no
intent to permanently reside in Canada. The onus is on the applicant to
prove that he/she will leave Canada during the end of their visit or before
the expiry of the visa. If the visa officer is not convinced, your application
may be refused. If you wish to reapply, you should provide extra arguments
and documentation to strengthen your application.

A super visa lets you visit your children or grandchildren for up to 5 years at
a time. It’s a visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years.
When you enter Canada, a border services officer will confirm how long you
can stay.
There are specific requirements for a super visa, including the need for
medical insurance, having a signed letter of support from your
child/grandchild, take an immigration medical exam, be admissible and
apply from outside Canada. The child/grandchild inviting you must prove
that his/her household meets the Minimum Necessary Income. They need to provide their Notice Of Assessment , T4s, paystubs, bank statements and
employment letter to prove their funds.
In addition to above, the officer also considers other criteria such as your
ties to your home country, purpose of your visit, your family and financial
background and the overall economic and political stability of your home
country when rendering a decision on your application.

When you first come to Canada as a visitor, you must have used either
a visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) or an electronic travel
authorization (eTA) or a valid passport or travel document.
If you want to extend your stay in Canada as a visitor (stay in Canada
longer), you need to apply for a visitor record. A visitor record is not a
visa. A visitor record is a document that gives you status as a visitor in
Canada and allows you to stay longer and it always has an expiry date. You
must apply for a visitor record before your current status expires.
If your visitor visa has already expired, you may apply to restore your
status. However, this must be done within 90 days of losing status and you
should continue to meet the initial requirements of your stay. In addition,
you cannot leave Canada until a decision is made.
If you have any questions regarding extension or restoration of your visitor
status, you may please Book a consultation through Expora Immigration or fill a form at Contact Page and we will help you further.
If you are inadmissible to Canada but have a strong reason to visit the
country, you may be issued a Temporary Resident Permit.
You could be inadmissible for several reasons such as past criminal records,
medical reasons, misrepresentation, financial reasons etc.
To be considered for a temporary resident permit, your need to enter or stay
in Canada must outweigh the health or safety risks to Canadian society, as
determined by an immigration or a border services officer. Even if the
reason you’re inadmissible seems minor, you must prove that your visit is
justified.
A temporary resident permit is usually issued for the length of your visit to
Canada—for example, 1 week to attend a family member’s funeral. You
must leave Canada by the expiry date of the permit, or get a new permit
before your current one expires.
This permit may be cancelled by an officer at any time and it is no longer
valid once you leave Canada, unless you have specifically been authorized to
leave and re-enter.
